Goldin + Senneby

Biography

Goldin+Senneby, the artist duo comprising Simon Goldin and Jakob Senneby, are known for their interdisciplinary approach that blends art with finance, ecology, and other social systems. Their work often involves collaboration with experts from various fields, including fiction writers, stock market professionals, and arborists. This allows them to explore and reveal connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, converting these insights into comprehensible and impactful artworks.

One of their notable works includes "Spruce Time," which revolves around the oldest tree in the world, Old Tjikko. This project reflects their interest in the intersection of nature and human activity, highlighting themes of longevity and ecological impact. Another significant piece, "Insurgency of Life," provides insight into the world of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, using the fungus Isaria sinclairii to explore themes of life, death, and the manipulation of natural processes.

Goldin+Senneby’s work has been widely exhibited throughout the world over the last two decades. They have participated in multiple biennials including São Paulo, Istanbul and Gwangju; had solo exhibitions at The Power Plant in Toronto, Kadist in Paris, Tensta konsthall in Stockholm and e-flux in New York, and their work is represent in the collections of Moderna museet, Stockholm; Centre Pompidou, Paris, the Whitney Museum of American Art and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), in New York.

They are known for their innovative methods and ability to blur the lines between art and reality, creating a space where viewers are invited to question and engage with the socio-economic systems that govern contemporary life.
