Hilma af Klint, Temple Series — New Rug
New Works
September 19, 2018

Picture from our exhibition of The Temple Series Collection, 2018. Group IV, no 2. The Ten Largest, Youth.
From her most groundbreaking series of works, executed during an intense and decisive period of her life, personally as well as artistically. With her series Paintings for the Temple, Hilma af Klint (1862 – 1944) preceded or paralleled artists such as Vassily Kandinsky and Picasso. Her spiritual guide, Rudolf Steiner, founder of the anthroposophy movement, even advised her to wait fifty years before exhibiting her radical paintings.
CFHILL in collaboration with ASPLUND and The Hilma af Klint Foundation, has produced six large scale rugs in limited editions, a successful and acclaimed project. Now, the time has come for the seventh rug, made after her Group IV, No 6, Adulthood, from October 1907. Handmade, in wool and silk in harmonious colour combinations: warm orange and dark against lilac including her mystic scripts.
